**The Graphs are not updated throughout the Playoffs.

    The numbers on the vertical axis are the Power Ratings.  A moving average analysis is used to create graphs which have smoother curves and which more accurately depicts the actual power rating than any single point could.

     Each number on the horizontal axis represents a new update point.  Updates will occur every Tuesday, after the previous weeks schedule of games has been completed.  In this period, most teams will have played one game.  These numbers don't exactly correspond to the number of games played for each team because in most instances, because of the BYE schedule that the NFL uses.  This inconsistency is another reason why the moving average analysis works best for these graphs.

     Larger adjustments in the ratings are made at the beginning of the season. Expect the ratings to fluctuate quite a bit in the first few weeks.  By the 4th or 5th week, most teams will have found their level and the variations will be smaller, though there will still be small up and down variations about their established average.  Perhaps the best value to reflect a teams power rating would be the average between the most recent high and low points on the graphs for each team.  The trend of the team line, down or up, may be a good predictor of what the team will do in future weeks.
